John William WaterhouseStepping out of the shower today, fresh and clean, it once again struck me how much I love to 'sense' the world around me. With my senses I have the gift to perceive my surroundings. One of my favouite sense organs is the Nose. Whenever an object or a subject catches my attention, I instinctively have the desire to 'smell' it. To smell awakens my Imagination. If it's a rock, a flower, the air, the earth, a fruit, a tree, an animal or a human being. The Nose is my first sense to relate with my surroundings. It offers my Being sort of an orientation of what I am relating too.
I am aware that the mind eventually decides to bring forth memories, relating to the feelings experienced. Thoughts are created which then build up a picture of the perceived. Life is caught into a Frame, thus the mind believes to make 'sense' of things. Is this still the true Essence of Life?
To own the capability to sense the scent of a flower in bloom, is a sensation I wish not to miss. Just to breath in its pure essence, no fixed images, no stories, no memories, just to enjoy this moment of sensation, is a gift to pay respect too. It is to become the flower and not to recreate a copy of what it is. The flower already exists, doesn't it? Why the need to catch Life instead of not just enjoying its pure pre'sense'? It is hard to resist the need, to pick those beautiful wildflowers, just to enjoy a little bit longer its Beauty. Does this make sense? What happens within the Flower after cut of from its Lifesource? Am I giving the flower the possiblity to keep its Essence alive or have I sentenced it to death? I wonder what the bumblebees and the butterflies have to say in this matter? Probably: create a garden which is full of Life and not an imaginery garden full of dead things.

To have the capability to 'Imagine", I regard as a blessing aswell as a curse. To imagine is to practice magic. Wiki says: Imagined images are seen with the "mind's eye".
The Imagination is one of the tools of the mind, to stay in existence. What would the mind be without Imagination? The trick is to differ between a fictionary image and the true essence. Simply shut down all programmed reactions, this requires awareness. Take what Life is offering in all its Beauty and simply enjoy to be blessed. There is no need to possess Life, as we are already Life. It's a paradox belief. Life simply is, and we have the free choice to be a part of it or to live in seperation. Which brings more Joy?
What is the Life cycle of a flower? A seed opening itself, cracking its shell, sending its tentacles out of the dark earth into the sun's light, seaking warmth, growing. It decides to open its protective petals, keeping it safe from harm, willing to give all its Beauty to the world and to make love with its surroundings, until it dies. All Life repeats this cycle of creation and evolution. Life is simply one huge miracle and beautiful, only the talking mind God does not believe so. Knowing and Be-ing Life, opens up a new way of living. The opportunity to enjoy every moment of Life's incredible creations. That is being blessed and coming to sense!
The curse is the mind God, trying to give the 'sensed' object or subject a meaning. It's trying to catch Lifes creations into a framed picture, which it then transforms to memories and stories, creating Artificial Life. Is this Truth? Is it true Beauty? True Artists of Life simply do not allow their mind to recreate what is already there. They become Life's Artists, translating Lifes true Essence, within the grounds of Artificial Life to see, attracting those who search its Beauty and Joy.

One of my favourite Life's Artist is 'Andy Goldsworthy'. He uses only what the chosen surroundings offer him. His Art blends into its surroundings and does not seperate it. That is Truth! Great Books of wisdom and beauty. Especially the DVD named "Rivers and Tides", by Andy Goldsworthy. His Art makes my Being cry for the beauty of Life.

There is a great Canadian Comedian named Steven Wright.
He comments:
by putting on a pair of glasses,
with 5 horizontal lines marked across each lense,
you can read by night the notes of the universe
by looking at the stars.

I love that idea!
Definitely worth a try.
Welcome to your senses.

As always, you have so much beauty to offer the world~
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, I too love the sense of smell, it is the most sensuous, I think. In the east the say it is the most spiritual sense. hmmmm?
thank you for bringing such beauty into cyberspace :)
ReplyDeleteand into my world...
my husband saw your garden... he just wanted to go sit there and absorb.
i just discovered 'rivers & tides'... O MY!!
i watched over and over, i had to share it with everyone :)
I'm enjoying the world you live in very much. Believe it or not the shoots of the plants you put in our garden before you left are already getting impatient to enter the world again. Each year bigger & more beautiful.
