WELCOME SPRING!

The first spring flowers in our garden

Welcome Spring!

Awake light, surrender dark, awake sun, rest moon.

The dark grey winterdays in a rainy city are slowly vanishing. I have never experienced so different types of rain as in city Vancouver. The winds have become less aggressive, guess they worn out their speed. The air smells earthy with a mix of bitter-sweet greens. The streets are now filled with smitling people, taking their dogs for a walk. Soon new born Beings will be taking their first steps on the Earth, sucking in the Breathe of Life. Dots of fresh colors are scattered on Earths new garment, dancing polka-dots. There are green stripes and curvy trible designs meandering along Earths skin, creating a beautiful tattoo. Water, lots of water, it is the season of cleansing and nuturing the Earth and her children. Everywhere little creatures are awakening, nesting within Earths soil and roots. The singing Birds, how I love them, singing their songs, awake awake, create create.

Why is it that Nature sheds her garments in winter, naked to the bone, only coated by white soft fluff from the sky, gently laying a blanket of peace on her tired body. Animals and humans do exact the opposite, we cover our bodies with hair and fur, in colder parts some extra bodyfat is a means of survival. The seasons create many masterpieces garmenting the Earth, especially from Spring to Fall. Animals and humans shed their garments the hotter it gets, best naked near an ocean, by a lake, in the shade. Is it maybe that her garments serve us beings as protection and nourishment through the cycle of the seasons? Living in her womb where creation happens. Treat her well and she will treat us well. It is like a silent sacred agreement. What we do to her, we do to us, to all Life. We can't defeat Nature, she is the source of all Life, we are just one of her many children. Look around, Life is everywhere!

Tulips Womb

Spring is for me the season where all the elemental forces come together, to decide how the coming year is to be seasoned. I imagine how all the earthly elemental Gods gather together in a circle and discuss with compassion how to nourish the Earth for the better of all. I truly believe that Nature knows what best is to keep Life alive, she is just doing her job. So let's support her, work as a team. Start with recycling, turn off the lights, the computer when not needed. Does the TV and Radio have to bla out all the time? There are many great books on the market about living more ECO, they are a fun read at the breakfast table instead of the daily newspapers filled will messages of fear. Exchange the TV with an an Aquarium or at least cut the Cable, live advertisement free. Humans are very lazy in the material world, hypnotized, drugged with artifical reality. Are fear and love maybe the triggers which try to wake us up? We are like seedlings resting in the dark soil, awakening, pushing up towards the sun and air, reaching for this light of inner peace. Breaking through the dark is a struggle but hey, the bigger the joy when you break through to new light!

Starlight, sunbright

Every season has its Beauty, every element its Force. We have these forces within our beings too, and we react upon the way the elements in the world rule. Do you feel these forces within yourself struggling? The yearning for the warmth of sun and longer daylight, the urge to break through the heaviness of winter and to skip a few steps on fresh green grass in the beauty of a spring day. Enough of the sound of blowing winds and rattling doors; bubbling waters and the songs of the birds my ears wish to hear. The silence of Winter was welcome for a while, diving into Naturescoat of greys, dark browns, black & whites, but truly, it starts to become depressing. I long for color and the songs of the birds! Nature is the cycle of Life. We are Life. Can you resist walking past a patch of fresh opened up spring flowers without feeling a spark in your heart and a smile on your lips?

Spring Flower Power

Spring gives me new hope, she always returns. Spring fills me with strength, it nourishes my Being, keeps me walking my Earthwalk. Spring is a time of new beginnings, shedding the old skin, cutting through strings of attachments, cleaning up the house and the garden. The season of storytelling and feasting, of nesting and hermiting is over. Enough time was given to reflect on what was, to chew on what is and to prepare our seeds for what is to be. The Bottle of Creation is ready to pop, Spring is here! Let's pour our fresh brew of creativity into the world, mix its contents into Life's cycle, once more again! Which seeds do you wish to nourish, to offer to Life's womb, to take care of and to help grow?

Seed of Life

There is this great Chakra Meditation, visualizing a tree of all chakras joining one another. During the meditation ask yourself, how do the roots of your tree look like, what kind of soil do they dig through, do you see other living beings? Look at the tree from root to tip, try to sense its energy. Scan the landscape, the sky, the air, is it a healthy surrounding? What does the landscape tell you? What do you feel? What season is it? Is it supporting your tree or destroying it? How is the sky above, is it bright and blue, cloudy and grey, a nightsky sparkling with stars?

What I see is the state of my being and its surroundings. After the meditation I like to scribble words in my notebook and sketch my Tree-Being and the Landscape on a blank sheet of paper. If I sense it is necessary to take a closer look behind the curtains of my sketches, painting colors is my way of lifting the veil to the hidden symbolisms. An ancient language to remember! It's healing.

Many Seeds of Life

Many Gifts of Life

I welcome Spring into my Life today, I wander through my garden and encourage all seeds to wake up to the coming days of longer daylight. Reallocating pots filled with different seeds and bulbs, to a more sunnier area, if required. We have a new guest on the deck, a cute little singbird. I believe it is a male creating a home for his future bride. He loves picking out the fresh planted seeds of various veggies and lettuce, resting in healthy dark soil. Could become a challenging friendship. But, we leave him be, fill up the bird-feeder and enjoy his mating songs. The first Canadian Geese just flew in from a long journey, the same couple as last year, bathing in the waters of a man-made pool in the park across the street. It is a joyful moment to hear their honking in the morning, calling from the distance sky, watching them land in the pool to take their morning bath. Being witness of the first bees buzzing between the greens and colors of our garden brings joy to my heart. A jetblack crow softens hard bread in our little garden fountain, leaving some behind as a thank you. Our little birdfriend loves bathing there, undisturbed by our watching eyes and excited comments.

Ah, at last, Spring is here!

Poem from Mary Oliver

Children, It's Spring

And this is the lady, whom everyone loves,

Ms. Violet in her purple gown

or, on special occasions,

a dress the color of sunlight.

She sits in the mossy weeds and waits

to be noticed.

She loves dampness.

She loves attention.

She loves especially

to be picked by careful fingers,

young fingers, entranced

by what has happened to the world.

We, the older ones,

call it Spring,

and we have been through it many times.

But there is still nothing

like the children bringing home

such happiness

in their small hands.

**************

May Spring lighten your spirit and

joyful butterflies quicken your heart.

Love
Jay
