Horizons, this is the word I choose today to ponder on.
What does the word 'Horizon' actually mean or which meaning has it been given over time?

The horizon (Ancient Greek ὁ ὁρίζων, /ho horídzôn/, from ὁρίζειν, "to limit") is the apparent line that separates earth from sky.
More precisely, it is the line that divides all of the directions one can possibly look into two categories: those which intersect the Earth's surface, and those which do not. At many locations, the true horizon is obscured by nearby trees, buildings, mountains and so forth. The resulting intersection of earth and sky is instead described as the visible horizon. When looking at a sea from a shore, the part of the sea closest to the horizon is called the offing.

To limit; the line that separates earth from sky

Horizons of Landscapes, Horizons of Thoughts, Horizon of Countries; are these not limitations of perception? Horizons offer a possibility to Dream, to wonder what lies beyond. Horizons limitates perception, only from here to there and nothing beyond. But the Truth is, there are actually no Horizons which stay, there is always a new Horizon beyond the one fixed on. Horizons can be of help, especially when hiking in the wilderness or paddling in waters, keeps me on the move. Horizons can also limit my sight, my set of mind, it becomes a trap. Horizons are borders to cross, to go beyond the seen, to explore new landscapes, thoughts, realms. To cross a Horizon requires curiosity, to risk the comfort of the known to explore the unknown. Horizons offer sometimes comfort but also limitation. What about Horizons in the sky or under the water? How do they look like, do any exist? What about in space or within the earth?

With the knowledge that 'Horizon' is just a word and contains many meanings, offers a whole new perspective of the world. Do Horizons really exist or is it just a mind-set? Experience says Horizons exist and also, that they do not exist. I see a Horizon, decide to check it out, reach it and what lays before me....another new Horizon. A repeating cycle. It is just a word given meaning. What if I delete this word and its given contents in my mind? What to see then: Infinity, vast space.

Look beyond set Horizons and new Worlds shall open. Risk the known and jump into the unknown, new stories will be lived and not just dreamed. Life offers infinite choices, infinite Horizons, infinite realms. Does it ever end? I don't know. For the moment, I am enjoying the possibility to explore them.
